Sit-up Test and Fundraiser

This week we will be doing our next fitness test which is our sit-up test.  We are going to pair the sit-up test with a fundraiser for a student in our school named Olive.  Olive has a rear disease called Rett Syndrome which effects her muscles rendering her from walking and talking.  Since October is Rett Syndrome Awareness month we thought we could raise some money using our muscles in P.E. class to help out a great cause.  If you would like to donate their will be a paper going home with every NSE student after their P.E. class with the number of sit-ups they completed on it.  This is not a mandatory fundraiser by any means but if you would like to help out a fellow NSE Spartan feel free to donate.  You can make a flat donation or you can even donate a set amount for each sit-up completed by your student.  Checks can be handed in with this form made out to RettSyndrome.Org or you can donate online at www.rettsyndrome.org.  RettSyndrome.Org is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit group.  Of every dollar donated 91 cents goes directly to research and family empowerment programs.  Thank you for all the continued support, with spartan pride NSE P.E.

This Week In P.E. and Health

We will be playing cooperative games in which the students will have to work together to accomplish a common goal.  Communication and collaboration are going to be highlighted in class as well as problem solving.

In Health both 3rd and 5th grades will be discussing the topic of drugs and alcohol as well as creating pamphlets and pictures of what they learned about regarding drugs and alcohol.
